General information for patients. This page does not replace individual medical advice. Last updated 30 September 2026.
Which product
First line (over the counter):
- Underarms and body: No More Sweat Total Body spray
- Hands and feet: No More Sweat Hands & Feet spray
If not strong enough: aluminium chloride hexahydrate 20% solution, made up by a compounding pharmacy.
How to apply
- Apply at bedtime, when sweating is at a minimum.
- Make sure the skin is completely dry. A hair dryer on a cool setting helps, before and straight after applying.
- Leave on for 8 hours, then wash off in the morning.
How often
- Every night until sweating improves. Significant improvement may be noticed within one week.
- Then gradually lengthen the interval between applications.
- Maintenance: usually once a week.
Avoiding irritation
- Dry skin reduces irritation and stops the product being sweated off.
- Don’t apply to broken, irritated or freshly shaved skin. Avoid shaving or hair-removal products for 12 hours before or after applying.
- If it stings or itches, apply less often. If irritation persists, see your doctor.
